VISITING THE UNITED NATIONS (VIC) by the 2AHET of the department of electrical engineering and electronics

Have you ever been to the Vienna International Centre? If not, you should definitely go because it is a fascinating and highly informative experience.

On 21 March 2018, the 2AHET, accompanied by Ms Peltzer and Ms Koller of the department of electrical engineering and electronics, visited the United Nations in Vienna. Besides getting some general information about the UN, the main focus of our visit was human rights. Our tour guide, Karim from Egypt, took us around the buildings, showing us the main square, the main conference room, the cubes of the translators and finally a tent for refugees. This last station was quite shocking to see because a tent like that is very tiny and without a sanitary facility.

Did you know that the UN has passed 17 Sustainability Development Goals? Those are e.g. fighting poverty, gender equality, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education and climate action, just to name a few.

We recommend all students to visit the UN Headquoters in Vienna to find out about the manifold tasks and goals of the United Nations worldwide.
